Located in Peterborough, NH, the completely off grid house was built by Borrego Solar. The house incorporates a photovoltaic array, a wood boiler and energy efficient appliances to ensure that energy needs are met without a grid connection. In fact, the owner, Chris Anderson, the COO of Borrego Solar, states that there is often surplus electricity available on sunny days.

The 3,000 square foot home took more than two years and approximately $510,000 to complete from start to finish and involved everything from getting a conservation easement put on the land to powering a construction site without grid electricity.

I love it
There are enclosed systems being developed that would work as well, or in conjunction with, solar energy, but it is certainly the wave of the future.
I would be interested in installing solar panels or a wind turbine on my house if the cost was a little more reasonable. I would be willing to pay $10,000 for a system that produces $1000 in energy savings per year. I think we are still a few years away before the price gets that low.
Chris
new hamoshire and soolar power, it could work….,,, BUT
new hampshires open and Britains the windest place on the earth so that could also be a possible idea,,,
But to be honest with you, after using this many fossil fuels we ARENT GONA SAFE THE EARTH BY RECYCLING SOME TINS AND SWITCHING OF THE LIGHT,, THATS THE TRUTH!
